Sue Morton IMAGE ART
Folios produced for Southern Institute Technology Diploma in Digital Photography.
A series of papers were required to finish this course and I have included the final of the portfolios produced on this journey.
I found this an extremely challenging exercise beginning with little knowledge of photography, a very steep learning curve but very rewarding.
The isolation of distance on-line learning is frustrating but it does teach you independence and problem solving skills.

FOLIO: PORTRAITS AND PORTRAYAL
Producing a series of images from proposal to final presentation was a challenging task. I elected to take a series of portraits of notable figures and portray their characters in a fresh and unique way - using composite images and Photoshop. My subjects were very obliging and worked with me to develop the images and share aspects of their personality and lives. Click on the BUTTON or the image to see other portraits in the series |
FOLIO 2: VALKRYRIES
Advanced photoshop challenged me to produce a series with a connection between the images This series explores the Norse mythology The Valkryries: Chooser of the Slain The Valkyries are female warlike virgins, who mount themselves with helmets and spears. They decide who will die in battle. They will hover over the battle field like birds over their prey. They will select among half of those who dies in battle and the bring them to Valhalla. I have taken a different whimsical slant inspired by a fountain in Auckland Domain by RS Hellaby1929 for a paper in SIT Diploma of Digital Photography. Follow the images and see how the story develops. |
FOLIO 3: NIGHT LIFE
A series of images exploring camera options developed with a long exposure, dark room and a torch with a piece of cellophane. Lots of fun and experimentation and this is the result.
Thanks to my very obliging model and friend Caroline |
FOLIO 4: GLOBAL WARMING SERIES
A series to explore the use of photoshop to manipulate images with a common element resulted in a global warming theme - the insidious nature of water encroaching upon our planet.

FOLIO 5: PORTRAITS 1
This series was my first venture into Photoshop and I used composite images looking at animals etc to show character. I was inspired by this first set to develop further in my latest series Portraits and Portrayal.
